
Shopify Theme 2.0 App Block Instructions
App Blocks

To integrate seamlessly with Shopify Theme 2.0 store, Layoutbase provides 3 types of app blocks (Main, Above, Below) in corresponding to the 4 page types (Product, Collection, Blog Post, Page) supported by Layoutbase. See below table for app block and page type relation:

Layoutbase app blocks are designed to display the original content of the page generated from Layoutbase, so when merchant edits the page in Shopify Theme Customizer, a clear visual of the Layoutbase published page can be displayed.

To update contents in the app block, edit the style and content of each page from Layoutbase app.

App blocks will be added automatically to the page once publised from Layoutbase, including all templates in the 4 page types: Product, Collection, Blog Post, Page.
App Block Main
App block “Main” corresponds to the pages that start as a blank page format in Layoutbase, including Page, Blog post, New blank Product page, New blank Collection page. The entire content generated in Layoutbase of a specific page will be combined in app block “Main” and displayed in the Shopify Theme Customizer.

App Block Above & App Block Below

App block “Above” and “Below” are added together as Layoutbase empower merchants to add content both above and below the Shopify existing content in Layoutbase editor.

Layoutbase supports user to create new Product or Collection page based on the existing Shopify layout by adding content above or below the existing page content. App block “Above” reflects the content added above the existing content and “Below” reflects the content added below it.

Add, Remove, Reorder App Blocks
The content of the app block corresponds specifically to the page content created in Layoutbase. Merchant can add, remove or reorder the app block by clicking “Add block”, “Remove block” or the “reordering” icon in Shopify Theme Customizer. The page layout will then be altered according to merchant’s app block operation once saved.
Please Note:
Layoutbase has no way to find out the changes of app block saved in Shopify Theme Customizer. Adding, deleting or reordering will cause page content inconsistency between Layoutbase and Shopify Theme Customizer. Adding, removing, or reordering Layoutbase app blocks will change the page content originally generated from Layoutbase.

Layoutbase does not supports app embed block at this stage, no activation or deactivation is required.
